Indian weightlifter Jeremy Lalrinnunga broke the previous snatch record for the 67 kg men’s division at the Commonwealth Games in 2022 with his 140 kg lift. He was the fifth Indian weightlifter to win a medal in Birmingham.

On October 26, 2002, Lalrinnunga was born in Aizawl, Mizoram. His father Lalneihtluanga Ralte was well-known in the Mizoram boxing scene in the beginning of the 1990s. Because his family’s circumstances hindered him for a very long time from following his goals, Jeremy came from a humble background. In an effort to support his family, he started working as a laborer on contract with the local Power Works Department (PWD).
Jeremy Lalrinnunga Career
Like his father, Lalrinnunga started boxing before he started weightlifting. Then, in the men’s 62kg class of the Youth Olympics in 2018, he created history by being the first Indian to take home a gold medal. Jeremy won several medals while a member of the Army’s Boys Sports Company before taking part in an international tournament (age group). He also won the national championship in Kolkata in 2020.
