BCECE exam is conducted by the Government of Bihar for admissions to professional courses in pharmacy, health sciences, and agriculture fields. Earlier, this exam was also conducted for medicine and engineering courses, but those fields are taken over by JEE Mains and NEET respectively. A large number of colleges base their admission on the results of this exam.
Eligibility Criteria
Residential Status
- Applicants must be Indian nationals and should have a Bihar domicile.
- Parents of applicants should be permanent residents of Bihar/employed in public sector undertaking of the Indian government within Bihar/ working in Bihar but belong to another state
Age Criteria:
- For courses in the pharmacy and health sciences, the applicant should be 17 years of age on December 31st of the year of application.
- For agriculture courses, the minimum age requirement is 16 years as on 31st August of the year of application.
The other criteria are stream-specific as below:
For applying through BCECE, the candidate should have cleared 10+2 exam with a minimum of 45% marks (relaxed to 40% for the reserved categories). They should have studied the following combinations:
- PCM – for admission to the Engineering and Dairy Technology course
- PCB – for admission to Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Veterinary, OT Assistant, Lab Technician, Ophthalmic Assistant, X-Ray Technician, Prosthetics and Orthotics
- CBA/PCA/MBA/MCA – for Gardening and agriculture
Reservation Status
- As per the government rules, a percentage of the seats is reserved by the population category. The distribution of the seats is as below:
- Scheduled Caste (SC) 25%
- Scheduled tribe (ST) 25%
- Backward Class (BC) 25%
- Extremely Backward Class (EBC) 25%
- Economically Weaker Section (EWS) 25%
- Reserved Category Girls (RCG) 25%
- Unreserved 25%
Application Procedure
You can fill the application form online at bceceboard.bihar.gov.in. The forms become available towards the end of April. After filling in the details for registration, the candidate is provided with a registration number along with the password. This will be used for logging in to the portal and uploading the photograph and paying the registration fee.
Fill both parts A and B of the form and also take a printout to be used at the time of admission.

- Exam Centres
The exam is conducted in 38 centres across Bihar and Jharkhand. The centre should be selected at the time of registration.
- Medium Of Exam
The Exam is conducted in English and Hindi.
- Exam Format
The exam consists of 100 MCQs that need to be answered within 90 minutes.

Scoring
4 marks are awarded for every right answer. One additional mark is deducted for every wrong answer.

Syllabus
The exam is based on the Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Maths syllabus for Class XI and XII.

The exam is conducted in the month of June.

Results:
The results are declared in the month of July.
- Qualification Criteria
The candidates of the general category need to score a minimum of 50% marks to qualify, while the reserved category candidates need only 40%.
